Course summary

Learning a Modern Foreign Language helps develop effective communication and analytical skills and enhances social, cultural and intercultural awareness.  You will gain a useful knowledge of and insights into French-speaking cultures as well as valuable skills for foreign travel, further education and employment.  Themes you will study include: Environment Education in Germany and student issues Working life in Germany and sexual equality Music Media Festivals and Traditions Integration and Multiculturalism Immigration and the role within German society Life in the German Democratic Republic (DDR) The reunification of Germany Germany since the reunification What it can lead to Translator, Interpreter (including UN, defence forces, police force), Foreign language intelligence, Tourism/ travel industry, Teacher- in both the UK and abroad, International Law Economics or finance, Journalist/reporter, Military (human intelligence collector, intelligence analyst), International sales manager, Diplomat, Flight attendant/ pilot, Work and live in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Namibia.
