
You will study performance as a soloist and as part of an ensemble, undertake stylistic and free compositions, analyse a range of music, complete harmonic exercises, demonstrate aural perception and general musicianship. There are many opportunities for you to join the numerous bands, choirs and orchestras that run every week. You may have the opportunity to run a band /choir yourself – something that would not be possible at a sixth form college without a school attached. We have excellent resources; we use industry standard software within our recording studio, and have excellent performance spaces which you are welcome to use. What it can lead to Performer, Composer, Music Therapist, Writer/Journalist, A&R Representative, Concert Organiser, Manager, Lawyer, Accountant .
You will need to have achieved at least a Grade 6 at GCSE and / or have obtained the performance level on any instrument at around Grade 6+. If you have not studied the theory of music it is strongly recommended that you acquire some prior knowledge in this area before embarking on the course.
