Course summary

For Spanish you will study the following: Year 12: In your first year, you will learn about the Spanish-speaking world. You will rapidly develop spoken fluency and cover the following topics: · Changes in family structure · Education in Spain and student issues · Working life in Spain and sexual equality · Music, media, festivals and traditions in the Spanish speaking world. You will also study a film and learn about key events in Spanish history through this medium   Year 13: In your second year, you will develop your thoughts on more complex issues such as immigration, integration and multiculturalism and reflect on the Franco dictatorship during the 1930s and the coup d’état of 1981.   You undertake an independent research project of your choice, which is assessed in the speaking exam What it can lead to Translator, Interpreter (including UN, defence forces, police force), Foreign language intelligence, Tourism/ travel industry, Teacher- in both the UK and abroad, International Law

Entry requirements

This is not an ab initio course. You will require a GCSE in Spanish at Grade 6 or be able to demonstrate equivalent proficiency. In addition, because of the cross-curricular nature of the curriculum, 5 or more GCSE qualifications at Grade 6 or above are expected.
