Course summary

Students at RGS choose to study German at A-Level for a variety of reasons. You might be interested in gaining fluency in another language to increase your job opportunities. You might choose German because of its importance for science and research. German is the second most used scientific language in the world and there are lots of scholarships and awards available that enable researchers to work in German laboratories and research centres. German combines well with any combination of the Arts or Sciences subjects. If you study German alongside Science and Mathematics, you will find German lessons a welcome contrast in the style of lesson and tasks, but equally if you study it alongside Arts and Humanities subjects you will find much of cultural content at A Level complements your study of Literature, Politics, History, Philosophy, Geography, Economics, Music or Art.
