Students will undertake breadth and depth studies to develop an understanding of a specific time period as well as the key events and turning points in History. Students build an extensive knowledge of the topics studied as well as developing skills such as analysis, evaluation and interpretation.
There are four units in the A Level: Units 1 and 2 are studied in Year 12 and Units 3 and 4 are studied in Year 13. Unit 1 – Examination: 1 hour 30 mins (Early Tudors) Unit 2 – Examination: 1 hour (Democracy and Dictatorship in Germany) Unit 3 – Examination: 2 hours 30 mins (Civil Rights in the USA) Unit 4 – Coursework assignment – 4000 word essay (20% - Development of Rights for Women)
