Business is the heart of the economy and it encourages our students to be innovative and understand the world they live in. Cambridge Technicals offers our students the opportunity to explore the world of business and develop skills that will enhance their competencies in real world situations. This course is for students who wish to gain a Level 2 qualification. An overall “Merit” grade in this qualification represents the equivalent of 4 good (A* - C) grades at GCSE, building the basis for entry into A-Levels. This course runs from September in this academic year to next May. In this time, students complete ten coursework units, all of which are marked both by teachers and external examiners. There are no written examinations. In the Spring term students further fulfil their vocational skills by completing two weeks of work experience at a local business. Students taking this qualification are also given the opportunity to take GCSE’s in Mathematics and English Language. Students study the following core and optional units. MANDATORY UNITS UNIT 1 - Business Purposes UNIT 2 - Business Organisations UNIT 3 - Financial Forecasting for Business UNIT 4 - People in Organisations UNIT 5 - The Marketing Plan OPTIONAL UNITS Unit 6 - Verbal and Non-verbal Communication in Business Unit 8 - Training and Employment in Business Unit 9 - Personal Selling in Business Unit 10 - Customer Relations in Business Unit 11 - Business Online
