Course summary

Course outline Psychology underpins the world as we know it; it makes people become more conscious of their actions and the actions of others. This course is offered as a two year A level, but is co-taught so a one year AS level is possible for some students. We will be studying the AQA psychology specification which comprises 7 units assessed at the end of year 13 in 3 exam papers. Topics covered include: - Social Influence - Memory - Psychopathology - Approaches in Psychology - Biopsychology - Research methods - Issues and debates in Psychology - Relationships - Schizophrenia - Aggression Lesson structure and expectations Whilst taking another science is not a prerequisite, students who do tend to perform much better. Homework and extension work will be set frequently and published on Edulink/Google classroom. Course requirements A grade 4 in English and a grade 5 in mathematics, as well as a 5-5 in combined science or a grade 5 in biology and chemistry. Next steps Psychology is used in practically all occupations from sales to medicine. By studying psychology, you open up a wide range of careers.
