As well as new learning new areas of pure mathematics you will study further applications of mathematics in mechanics, statistics and decision mathematics. You will develop an understanding of mathematics and mathematical processes in a way that promotes confidence and fosters enjoyment and provides a strong foundation to further study. You will develop abilities to reason logically and recognise incorrect reasoning to solve problems both within pure mathematics and in a variety of contexts, and communicate the mathematical rationale for these decisions clearly. You will learn to extend a range of mathematical skills and techniques to solve challenging problems which require you to decide on the solution strategy. You will develop an understanding of coherence and progression in mathematics and of how different areas of mathematics can be connected.
