This course gives you the opportunity to learn more about the Dance styles you love. There is a focus on Jazz, Contemporary, Street and Ballet with the opportunity to explore your creative side through the choreography units. The course is designed to nurture the dance skills you already have and improve your performance skills with our annual dance show. You will take part in show-stopping performances in our school theatre and attend fantastic trips.
5 GCSE grades at 9-4 including English & Maths at Grade 4 or above. BTEC Dance grade Merit or GCSE grade 5 in Dance of medals/grades from dance school and successful audition (Evidence of dance experience and qualifications must be provided prior to any offer being made.)
Year 12 Unit 1: Invesigating Professional Practitioners (Written three hour exam) Unit 2: Developing Skills and techniques in the performing arts - blogs, practical workshops, practical performance, presentation on the role of a professional dancer Year 13 Unit 3: Group Performance Workshop (external exam consisting of four milestones and a 20 min choreographed piece Unit 10: Jazz Dance Technique - blogs, practical workshops, practical performance, presentation on famous Jazz choreographers.
