
A level Chemistry uses a mixture of academic and practical work to give you an insight into the contemporary world of chemistry. You will learn about chemistry in many different contexts and realise the impacts on both industrial processes and in day-to-day life. Emphasis throughout the course is on developing knowledge, competence and confidence in practical skills and problem solving. You will learn how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society. Chemistry A-level opens up a range of possibilities for Further study and careers associated with the subject. It is an excellent base for a university degree in healthcare such as medicine, pharmacy and dentistry as well as the biological sciences, physics, mathematics, pharmacology and analytical chemistry. Chemistry is also taken by many law applicants as it shows you can cope with difficult concepts and will also complement a number of arts subjects.
Minimum 33 TPS plus English Language grade 5 and Mathematics grade 6 or better. ONE SCIENCE COURSE: grade 7 and 6 in COMBINED sciences OR 7 in Chemistry and TWO 6's in TRIPLE science. For TWO SCIENCE COURSES: Combined: 7 in each; Triple: 7 in each selected science and a 6 in a third.
