A Level Business Studies is a popular and long established A Level. Business Studies examines business organisations and how they operate in the 21st century. The subject also considers how businesses seek to future-proof themselves and respond to the challenges that change can present. Students will study how businesses carry out various functions; marketing, finance, production, HR and where there is an opportunity for improved performance. The course also looks at how external influences such as changes in interest rates and exchange rates affect trade and, in turn, how businesses choose to respond to these changes. Students will evaluate business behaviour from a variety of perspectives using an investigative, problem solving approach. The A Level course has three exam components, all taken at the end of Year 13. Students will be introduced to basic principles and core concepts in the first year of study. In the second year of the course students will develop and use a range of analytical and evaluative skills to further their understanding within the subject.
