The media play a central role in contemporary culture, society and politics. The world has become more connected than ever before and in this globalised society what it means to be a person, audience or producer is continually evolving. Our perceptions are often shaped and influenced by the media we consume. Media Industries account for a large proportion of the world's cultural and financial capital. Media Studies takes a significant step towards unlocking the true intentions and impacts of the media. The Eduqas specification provides both studies in breadth and depth. The components allow learners to reflect, debate and analyse the world around them, situating media products within social, cultural and historical contexts.
