Course summary
Studying Engineering at the Royal Greenwich Trust School enables learners to explore the world of Engineering and the many different sectors within. Engineering has an integral part to play in all aspects of the modern world. Btec engineering allows learners to study multiple Engineering sectors providing a base for further education in chosen pathways. The Engineering course has been designed as a two year linear course equivalent to three A levels, but students have the choice of studying the equivalent of one or two A levels. This course consists of seven mandatory units and eight specially chosen units to provide the broadest range of engineering sectors possibleto learners. Mandatory Units: • Engineering Principles • Delivery of Engineering Process Safely as a Team • Engineering Product Design and Manufacture • Applied Commercial and Quality Principles in Engineering • A Specialist Engineering Project • Microcontroller Systems for Engineers • Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems Chosen Units: • Electronic Devices and Circuits • Electronic Measurement and Testing of Circuits • Mechanical Behaviour of Metallic Materials • Mechanical Behaviour of Non-metallic Materials • Work Experience in the Engineering Sector • Computer Aided Design in Engineering • Manufacturing Joining, Finishing and Assembly Processes • Manufacturing Secondary Machining Processes
