Course summary

A Level Photography explores a variety of practical techniques across both digital and traditional processes. You will develop the skills to produce bold and expressive responses to a range of contemporary and personal themes. Learning to research, explore and respond to the work of photographers from historical examples to the most contemporary approaches is a key part of the course. The combination of coursework and exams is perfectly suited to those who enjoy more assignment-based assessment. Every organisation now pays great attention to their visual output, so Photographers have never been in greater demand!

Entry requirements

As a minimum, you will need (or equivalent to); GCSE Mathematics grade 4 GCSE English Language or Literature grade 4 plus three more GCSEs at grade 4. Ideally, you will have studied a creative subject at GCSE, such as Photography, but this is not essential.

How you'll be assessed

With the exception of a 15-hour exam, all work is practical and coursework based. All work is assessed once projects have been submitted for a given deadline, with constructive and detailed feedback being provided to assist in the improvement of coursework and the further refinement of skills.
