If you like puzzling things out and solving problems whose solutions are not immediately obvious, you could enjoy doing Mathematics. It is a subject that really “exercises the brain”, and Maths students learn to see through things in a logical, powerful way. The course covers a variety of mathematical topics, some of which will be familiar like algebra and algebraic graphs, whilst others are likely to be new, like calculus and logarithms. You will study ‘pure’ mathematics much of the time but will also learn to apply abstract mathematical methods to mechanical and statistical problems.
As a minimum, you will need (or equivalent to); GCSE Mathematics grade 6 GCSE English Language or Literature grade 4 plus three more GCSEs at grade 4. It is strongly recommended you have: GCSE Mathematics grade 7 or above.
There are three exams, each one is two hours in duration.
