Public Services (Uniformed Protective Services) provides you with the essential skills needed for a range of careers that involve protecting the public. These include working within the armed services, police force, prison service and fire and rescue service. The course is vocational in nature and you will work with staff currently employed within the Army, RAF, Police and Fire Service, either on trips or when they visit the College. Over the two years you will study 13 units, 2 of which are assessed by exams, the others are through coursework.
As a minimum, you will need (or equivalent to); GCSE Mathematics grade 4 GCSE English Language or Literature grade 4 Plus three more GCSEs at grade 4.
Two of the 13 units are assessed by examination. These exams contain 20% of the marks available for the course. The other 80% are available through internally assessed coursework assignments, these may be written or practical.
