Course summary

Late Modern History really captures how the modern world was made. It’s a fascinating and vibrant subject looking at Britain from 1951-2007. Russia is a great topic because everything is so dramatic and on a massive scale. History develops key skills such as attention to detail, researching, time management and organisation. These abilities are highly valued by universities and employers, therefore this subject is an ideal choice for multiple different career routes such as the Civil Service, Journalism and Banking.

Entry requirements

As a minimum, you will need (or equivalent to); GCSE Mathematics grade 4 GCSE English Language or Literature grade 4 plus three more GCSEs at grade 4.

How you'll be assessed

This course is assessed by two exams (80%) and coursework (20%). Paper 1 – The British Empire, 2.5 hours in duration Paper 2 – The Cold War, 2.5 hours in duration Coursework historical investigation – India, 4,000 word essay.
