Sociology prepares you to apply concepts and sociological explanations to issues in contemporary society. You will engage in debates concerning explanations of changes in society, resulting a wider understanding of the world around them. You will be asked to think about the role families, gender and religion can have in how society is constructed but also how these in turn are constructed by society. Are you curious about how punishment effects those punished? Do you wonder about the effect of labeling people? Do you believe class is still an issue in today’s society? As a Sociologist, you will learn that there are many varied responses to these questions. You will learn how to apply case studies to support your views in response to these questions in order for you to build your understanding of the world around you and the society you live in. Many of our Sociology students go on to study; Politics, Media, International development, Criminology, Law, Accounting and Business at University.
