You will explore a variety of practical techniques across a range of 2D, 3D and digital media, while developing the skills to produce bold and expressive responses to a range of contemporary and personal themes. Learning to research, explore and respond to the work of Artists from historical examples, to the most contemporary approaches is a key part of the course. The combination of coursework and exams is perfectly suited to those who enjoy assignment-based assessment. you can progress onto a Foundation Diploma, Art & Design Degree or anything where an understanding of a visual language is required.
As a minimum, you will need (or equivalent to); GCSE Mathematics grade 4 GCSE English Language or Literature grade 4 plus three more GCSEs at grade 4. Ideally, you will have studied a creative subject at GCSE, such as Art, but this is not essential.
With the exception of a 15-hour exam, all work is practical and coursework based. All work is assessed once projects have been submitted for a given deadline, with constructive and detailed feedback being provided to assist in the improvement of coursework and the further refinement of skills.
