Digital Media is all around us, and the tools we use in our own lives have now grown and transformed, and form part of the professional world. In this vocational course, you will learn how to use social media platforms for professional purposes, including how to engage with an audience and get them involved and interact with your content. This RSL qualification is created by professionals working in the creative media industry. The course also looks at the production processes of the media. You will learn the key conventions of media products and how they communicate to an audience. You will look into ways to create your own products to attract a particular audience and use technology to produce and distribute them across various platforms. You will learn how to produce visual materials as well as video and audio. You will work very much in the manner of someone working at a digital media agency. You will often be given projects to work on for a client and learn modern production skills along the way. You will lead on developing, producing and publishing of a professional podcast, as well as developing content for a YouTube channel. You will create digital materials for social media and learn how to explore the success of social media campaigns. You will explore the processes that take place from the inception of ideas right through to their creation and consumption by an audience. In the process, you will learn contemporary project management skills which you can transfer into the workplace. Research methods are explored and you get to develop your own ideas for media products and pitch them to a client. We work closely with local media companies and have great connections with film and video producers, radio stations, print media companies and many more.
