This course offers a flexible approach where the specification is divided into modules each covering key areas. Teaching of practical skills is integrated with the theoretical topics and both are examined through written papers. There is no coursework element to A Level Chemistry.
For success in A Level Chemistry, students should have achieved at least a Grade 7 in GCSE Chemistry or 77 in Combined Science. It is strongly recommended that students also have a Grade 7 in Mathematics to support them with the Foundations in Chemistry and Physical Chemistry modules. The assessment of quantitative skills will include at least 20% of Level 2 (or above) mathematical skills. Studying an additional A Level science is advised for those students wishing to study a science at university.
