The course helps you to take a broad view of design and technology, develop your capacity to design and make products and appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing. It is essential and expected that you will spend some of your private study time working independently (under supervision) in the workshop and studio.
For success in this course, you should have achieved a Grade 6 in GCSE Design Technology (Product Design; Resistant Materials or Graphic Products) and have an interest in design and innovation. It is strongly recommended that you have achieved a Grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics to support you with the mathematical elements of the course (15%).
