Course summary
This qualification is aimed at students who enjoy science, enjoy the more hands on aspects of coursework but who do not want to limit themselves to the narrow focus of studying just one discipline. The Biology bias of the course is perfect for those who wish to progress to higher education to study health related careers and/or pursue a career in the applied science sector. You will gain a broad understanding of vocationally-related sciences to support progress to higher education and develop your knowledge and understanding of scientific principles, as well as those scientific practical skills recognised by higher education institutions and employers.

As published by the school
Students choosing to study Applied Science need to have gained a least a grade 5 in 2 GCSE Triple Science or grade 5,5 in GCSE Combined Science. You will also need to have achieved a grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths. You must have a genuine interest in the subject and a commitment to independent learning and demonstrate a willingness to develop their mathematical and extending writing skills.
