A Level Economics
St Mary Magdalene Academy
Course summary
If you are curious about the world around you and how it is organised in terms of meeting people’s needs and wants then Economics will satisfy that curiosity. Economics will provide you with analytical tools involving observing and measuring economic processes, designing models and testing theories. Economics focuses on decision making by individuals, firms and governments all of which have an impact on each other. Economists look at whether the decision making process results in the best possible outcome for people and society. You will learn that the central purpose of economic activity is to satisfy our needs and wants. We assume our wants are infinite and the resources available in our planet are finite. As such we are forced to make economics decisions about what to produce, how much and for whom.
