The general topic areas for this course are: Reacting masses; Atomic structure; Analytical chemistry; Inorganic chemistry; Acid reactions; Organic chemistry; Organic analysis; Thermodynamics; Transition metal chemistry; Practical chemistry skills The Chemistry course should encourage students to: Understand the role that Chemistry plays in our lives; develop analytical approaches and problem solving skills; have a knowledge and understanding of the reasons and patterns of chemical behaviour ; be able to perform standard analytical tests to identify chemicals; be able to synthesise and produce chemicals in a sustainable way.
