Course summary

In our digital age, Computer Science is considered the fastest growing area of study, imparting skills that are extensively important and in high demand. Computer Scientists analyse and solve problems, looking at the natural world through a digital prism, and inventing and creating an innovative future. It is a subject that spans theory and practice, applying both abstract and concrete thinking to real-world systems. In A Level Computer Science, you will learn how ideas and systems are created and developed through coding, or programming. This will involve an expanded mathematics focus, with practical connections to interesting elements in a wide variety of different fields. You will study contemporary systems architecture and networks; understand how data can be processed, analysed, manipulated, and exchanged; learn about web technologies, and physical technology; and develop your own software. The course has computational thinking at its core, exploring algorithms, computing methodologies, design, and the nature of human and machine intelligence.
