A level students will be introduced to a wide and exciting range of art techniques and processes to help develop their understanding and confidence in being able to apply a variety of methods in their own artistic practice. Students will be actively encouraged to use a wide range of media, techniques and processes through the delivery and teaching of workshop-style lessons. The focus and aim of these lessons will be to develop and practise using techniques and skills which are crucial for studying Art and producing work to the quality and standard required of students at A level. For component 1 students are required to present a portfolio of work on a theme set by SBE School The theme can be interpreted in any way the student desires and any media can be used. To support the portfolio submission students will undertake a written element ‘A Related Study’ that should be an academic written investigation into their theme of between 1000 - 3000 words. For component 2 students will select a set starting point from the OCR Art & Design exam paper from 1 February onwards. Students need to create a range of practical studies culminating in a final response set in 15 hours of supervised time.
