If you love making videos or podcasts, creating YouTube content or producing TikToks – then this is the route for you. Join the Global Academy Sixth Form and study our unique industry-focused Creative Media Production Course, which includes the study of media. Our media studies and content production route is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary to pursue a career in the creative industries, including media production, media communications, and media content creation. As well as studying for a much-coveted T Level in Media, broadcast and Production, during your two years at Global Academy – you could cover the following skills and knowledge: Some examples of the types of projects students may work on include: Making a podcast or radio show: Students will have the chance to produce and host their own podcast or radio show, learning about audio production and editing, scripting, and engaging audiences. Editing a YouTube show/channel: Students will learn about video editing and production as they create and edit content for a YouTube show or channel. Creating content for our in-house production company: Students will work on projects for our in-house production company, learning about the entire production process from research and planning to execution and evaluation. Making a web documentary: Students will have the opportunity to produce a web documentary, learning about researching, planning, and producing a long-form video project. Audio imaging and production: Students will learn about creating audio imaging and other audio elements for media content. Branded content for an advertiser: Students will work on creating branded content for an advertiser, learning about creating content that meets the needs of a specific client. Making a showreel or demo: Students will have the opportunity to create a showreel or demo to showcase their skills and abilities to potential employers or higher education courses. These projects will give students the chance to apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world setting, preparing them for success in their future careers in the media industry. This unique programme combines the study of media studies with practical skills training in the field of creative media production. During your two years at Global Academy, you will have the opportunity to learn about a range of topics, including social media video and audio production, radio and podcasting, TV and YouTube, short-form content, video and audio editing, and more. You will also have the chance to work on projects such as making a podcast or radio show, editing a YouTube show/channel, creating content for our in-house production company, and more. What qualification will I get? Upon completion of the course, you will receive a T Level in Media, Broadcast and Production, which is equivalent to 3 A Levels and offers up to 168 UCAS Points. This qualification has been designed to provide you with the necessary industry-relevant skills, knowledge, and understanding to access entry-level roles, training programs, or apprenticeships in the media production sector or progress to related higher education courses. Our partnership with the University of the Arts, London (UAL) and employer partners like Global– enables us to offer a rigorous and challenging curriculum that kick starts the career of young people whatever their background or experience. What partners are involved in this course? You will have the opportunity to work closely with media partners such as Global, ITV, Sky, and TikTok, as well as some of London’s best independent production companies and the University of Arts: London College of Communication, which all specialize in media studies. These partnerships will provide you with valuable industry experience and insights as you pursue a career in the field of media studies and creative media and content production. This is not typically offered in traditional media studies courses at other schools, colleges and sixth forms. This course focuses on both theoretical and practical learning. While you will learn about media studies concepts, you will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on media production projects and learning industry-relevant skills. This combination of theoretical and practical learning sets this course apart from traditional media studies courses that may focus more on theory and less on hands-on experience. The course offers a unique blend of theoretical and practical learning, industry experience and insights, and career preparation that sets it apart from traditional media studies sixth forms courses at schools and colleges. Where could this course take me? This route is for students looking to pursue a specialist career in the creative industries, including media studies. The qualification provides students with the necessary industry-relevant skills, knowledge, and understanding in media studies to access appropriate entry-level roles, training programs, or apprenticeships in the media production sector or progress to related higher education courses in media studies. Upon graduation, you may be qualified for roles such as Broadcast Assistants, Producers, Editors, Production Coordinators, or higher education courses in Media Communications, Content Production, Radio and TV Production, Television and Live Events Production, Sound Arts, Screen Studies, and Journalism. Many of our successful alumni have gone on to work at top companies such as Global, BBC, Pinewood Studios, Disney, Facebook, TikTok, and top advertising agencies.
