Course summary

Physics plays a key part in science and technology which deals with how and why things behave as they do. The breadth of study available in physics is immense and advances made over the last century have had an everlasting effect on our civilisation. Topics deal with things which vary in size from the unimaginably small (sub atomic) to the equally unimaginable large (galaxies); from temperatures hundreds of degrees below freezing point to temperatures approaching that of our sun. The micro-electronic revolution is the most recent advance to produce a world-wide impact on industry and our every-day lives. Physics holds the key to the energy problem facing our world today. The W.J.E.C. 'AS/A2' level syllabus provides much opportunity for students to glimpse the problems being solved by physicists on a global and universal scale.
