Course summary
Have you ever wondered how a rollercoaster is designed? How a computer works? How decisions are made in the business world in the face of uncertainty? Mathematicians are involved in answering questions like these. Throughout the A level course students study a variety of topics covering the fundamentals of pure mathematics such as algebra, calculus and functions. In addition, they will study statistics and mechanics which cover applied areas such as probability and Newton’s laws of motion. Studying Mathematics at AS/2 level is undoubtedly a challenge. The course is rigorous and demanding and students will be expected to work consistently hard throughout. In return successful students will earn a highly respected qualification which is an excellent foundation to a large number of higher education courses.
