Course summary
Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and human behaviour. Psychologists conduct research and develop theories and explanations to attempt to understand why individuals act and interact in the ways they do. Psychology investigates a wide range of phenomena including learning and memory, personality and social behaviour, child development and mental illness and psychologists examine these topics from a variety of different psychological perspectives. If students have an analytical and enquiring mind and are interested in understanding human behaviour then ‘A’ Level Psychology will be an enjoyable subject. Modules studied include: • Memory • Forensic Psychology • Social Influence • Attachment • Approaches in Psychology • Psychopathology CAREERS The A-Level Psychology course is useful preparation for a wide variety of further courses and occupations. Psychology is one of the most popular courses at university, and it also forms part of many joint degrees such as Psychology and Criminology. A degree in Psychology provides a useful foundation for a range of careers and employers such as HR officer, neuroscientist, market researcher and many more. However, some Psychology graduates become professional psychologists. Some examples are: forensic, clinical, health, education, occupational, counselling, health and sport.
