Course summary
Chemistry in many ways is the interdisciplinary science. It is about the study of the behaviour of all types of materials, and as such covers areas of Physics, Biology, Geology, Technology and Mathematics. The course builds upon the basis provided by the WJEC Chemistry / Double Science GCSE. It presents some of the distinctive knowledge, concepts, techniques and structural relationships of Chemistry and is firmly based upon experimental evidence. The course covers all aspects of Chemistry including economic, environmental, industrial studies.

Assessment
AS and A2 units have a 40% and 60% weighting respectively. An E grade at AS is the minimum requirement to continue onto the A2 course. AS Level Units. These carry a 40% weighting of the final A2 award. Unit 1. The Language of Chemistry, Structure of Matter and Simple Reactions (20%) Unit 2 Energy, Rate and the Chemistry of Carbon Compounds (20%) A2 Level Units These carry a 60% weighting of the final A2 award. Unit 3. Physical and Inorganic Chemistry (25%) Unit 4. Organic Chemistry and Analysis (25%) Unit 5. Practical assessment (10%)
