Course summary
evaluate political information; and to formulate arguments and debate political and topical issues. At AS students will develop a broad vocabulary and understanding of the political systems of Wales and the UK. The first unit focuses on the processes of government, looking at parliamentary structures, core executives and multi-level governance. The second unit focuses on citizenship, participation and voting behaviour, electoral systems, political parties and pressure groups. At A2 students will develop a critical knowledge of four key ideological traditions and their contemporary relevance to Welsh and global politics. The government and politics of the USA focuses on the ideas and institutions that underpin the American political system.

Assessment
AS and A2 units have a 40% and 60% weighting respectively. An E grade at AS is the minimum requirement to continue onto the A2 course. AS Level Units.
