Course summary
GCSE Business Studies is a popular course designed to give students a good grounding in the basic ideas involved in businesses. It covers all the main business activities and, where possible, topics are related to local and current examples. This course is all assessed through two final exams in Year 11, there is no controlled assessment on this course. There will now be two examinations sat during the examination series of the Summer of Year 11. There is a stronger emphasis on both students’ written and numeracy skills on this new specification and students will be expected to write extended answers. The content is presented in six clear and distinct topic areas: Business activity Influences on business Business operations Finance Marketing Human resources UNIT 1: BUSINESS WORLD Written Examination: 2 hours (62.5% of qualification) A mix of short answer and structured questions based on stimulus material covering all aspects of the specification content. UNIT 2: BUSINESS PERCEPTIONS Written examination: 1 hour 30 minutes (37.5% of qualification) Data response questions covering all of the specification content.
