Course summary
The Psychology A Level course is suitable for students who wish to develop their interest in the study of human behaviour. The aim of the course is to enable you to study psychological theories and concepts and develop your skills of analysis, interpretation and evaluation. Paper 1: Introductory Topics in Psychology - This unit includes learning about social influence (why we obey, conform and change the majority’s point of view), memory, attachment and psychopathology (how mental health disorders affect people and how they are treated). Paper 2: Psychology in Context – This unit includes learning about the different schools of psychology from behavioural to biopsychology and how human behaviour is studied as a science. Additionally you will be learning about research methods and the mathematical element of psychology. Paper 3: Issues and Options in Psychology – This unit includes learning about psychological debates (such as nature or nurture), schizophrenia, relationships and aggression.
