Course summary
The Law A level course is designed to enable students to develop an in-depth understanding of how the law operates in the UK. Concepts like justice, morality, equality and human rights are considered throughout the course. The A level provides students with a broad knowledge of the nature of the law of England and Wales. Topics such as legal personal, civil and criminal processes and the rules and theories of Tort are taught at AS. At A2 the theory and rules of human rights as well as criminal law are examined in depth. Students who are considering a legal career as a barrister or a solicitor or who have an interest in the way the law operates will find this course fascinating. They will develop transferable skills such as analysis and problem solving. Students will learn how the law is made and applied in this country as well as developing their ability to debate and discuss topical issues related to the law. During year 12 learners will have an opportunity to visit Cardiff Crown Court to further develop their knowledge and interest in legal processes.
