Biology A-Level is an exciting course that builds on knowledge acquired at GCSE. Throughout the two-year course students will study biological molecules, cells, organisms that exchange substances with their environment, genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms, energy transfers in and between organisms, organisms response to changes in their internal and external environments, genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems and the control of gene expression. The ‘A’ Level Biology qualification is assessed over three separate papers. There is also additional certification that recognises practical skills. The course is designed to build on concepts and skills developed at GCSE. CAREERS A-Level Biology is a highly respected A-Level which offers access to a wide range of university courses and careers. Students who study Biology develop their research, problem solving, organisation and analytical skills. These skills are valued by university and employers. A-Level Biology will support the study of other Sciences and Maths as well as subjects like Psychology and Geography. A-Level Biology is required for degrees in Medicine, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine. Biology is a key subject for lots of STEM careers, particularly in healthcare, medicine and jobs involving plants or animals.
