The History A level course is designed to develop a learner’s knowledge and understanding of a wide range of historical issues, which help them understand the world we live in. These include: Why Hitler came to power? What problems in the Weimar Republic played a part in this? What was life in Germany living under Nazi rule? Why was there so much protest and unrest in Georgian and Victorian Britain? How did this protest change life in Britain? How did the struggle for civil rights for African Americans develop following the abolition of slavery? How did America’s relationship with the world change as a result of WW1, WW2, the Cold War? Does Neville Chamberlain deserve to be judged as ‘Guilty Man’ for his policy of Appeasement and the road to WW2? Throughout the course learners are given the opportunity to develop their ability to evaluate historical material and reach judgements on historical issues, whilst further developing their historical skills
