You will design, make and evaluate innovative products and find solutions in response to realistic design contexts. You will develop knowledge and understanding of the core technical, designing and making principles for product design. You will use modern technologies such as CAD and 3D printing to realise your ideas. You will be expected to work independently on your work. The ‘state of the art’ Design & Technology building is freely open for Design students to use.
Minimum 6 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 mainly at Grade 6 or above. Design Technology GCSE at Grade C/5 or above. Pathway 1+ (2 years) Academic Entry Requirements 6 or more A*-C/9-4 GCSE grades mainly at Grade B/6/Merit or above and including either Mathematics or English Language at Grade 4 or above (only one BTEC grade may be considered). Post-16 Courses Available at Newman College Four A-level courses (or BTEC Level 3 courses) for those students with mainly A*-A or 9-8 grades. Three A-level courses (or BTEC Level 3 courses) + re-take courses in GCSE Mathematics and English Language if grade 4 has not yet been achieved.
