You will be given the opportunity to explore the spiritual, moral, ethical and cultural dimensions of Germany and German speaking countries. You will develop an understanding of the contemporary society, cultural background and history of countries or communities where German is spoken. You will be able to research a subject which interests you and present it in the oral exam. Literature, History and Film play a prominent part in the course through listening, speaking, writing and reading activities. A trip to Berlin is also offered.
Minimum 6 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 mainly at Grade 6 or above. German GCSE Grade 6 or above. Pathway 1+ (2 years) Academic Entry Requirements 6 or more A*-C/9-4 GCSE grades mainly at Grade B/6/Merit or above and including either Mathematics or English Language at Grade 4 or above (only one BTEC grade may be considered). Post-16 Courses Available at Newman College Four A-level courses (or BTEC Level 3 courses) for those students with mainly A*-A or 9-8 grades. Three A-level courses (or BTEC Level 3 courses) + re-take courses in GCSE Mathematics and English Language if grade 4 has not yet been achieved.
