
This course has an engaging range of set works and the opportunity for wider listening from six exciting areas of study from Bach to the Beatles. We have an amazing array of performance opportunities including our Newman College Band, production bands and concerts at The Old Market and in school. You will perform a recital of six minutes at the end of the course and will create and develop a free composition in a style of your choice. You will learn how to harmonise in the style of Bach and to create a remix in a contemporary dance music style using Logic Pro X.
Minimum 6 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 mainly at Grade 6 or above. Music GCSE Grade 6 and Grade 5 on instrument or voice. Pathway 1+ (2 years) Academic Entry Requirements 6 or more A*-C/9-4 GCSE grades mainly at Grade B/6/Merit or above and including either Mathematics or English Language at Grade 4 or above (only one BTEC grade may be considered). Post-16 Courses Available at Newman College Four A-level courses (or BTEC Level 3 courses) for those students with mainly A*-A or 9-8 grades. Three A-level courses (or BTEC Level 3 courses) + re-take courses in GCSE Mathematics and English Language if grade 4 has not yet been achieved. Pathway 2 (2 years) 5 or more A*-C/9-4 GCSE grades mainly at Grade C/4 and/or BTEC qualifications at pass and above. Post-16 Courses Available at Newman College Three BTEC Level 3 courses + re-take courses in GCSE Mathematics and English Language if grade 4 has not yet been achieved.
