A 2 year course, AS Level is taken at the end of Year 1 and the A2 (2016) or full A Level sat at then of the two year course AS Level Physics looks in depth at radioactivity, waves and mechanics before considering a variety of interesting topics like electricity. You will be involved in discussions, practical investigations and exercises to ensure that you are well prepared for your examinations. There is no coursework on this course. However, your performance during practical work will be assessed. The course itself is comprised of 5 main sections: AS level Units: - Measurements and their errors - Particles and radiation - Waves - Mechanics and energy - Electricity
Students require a minimum of 5 GCSE at Grade 6 or above (or equivalent), including English, Mathematics and Additional Science.
Exam - you will be expected to sit the AS Level exam at the end of Year 12 and A Level at end of Year 13. At AS Level: Paper 1: 1hr 30min written examination (covers all AS topics), Paper 2: 1hr 30min written examination (cover all AS topics, practical and data analysis).
