All students will be given the opportunity to carry out a wide range of investigative work including guidance in using advanced level laboratory techniques (e.g. culturing bacteria using aseptic techniques). You will be involved in discussions, practical investigations and exercises to ensure that you are well prepared for your examinations. There is no coursework on this course. However, your performance during practical work will be assessed. The course itself is comprised of 4 main sections: AS level Units: - Biological molecules - Cells - Organisms exchange substances with their environment - Genetic information, variation, and relationships between organism
Students require a minimum of 5 GCSE at Grade 6 or above (or equivalent), including English, Mathematics and Additional Science.
Exam- you will be expected to sit the AS Level exam at the end of Year 12 and A Level at end of Year 13.
