
There is a strong argument that in our future everyone will need to have had a business education. Scientists, engineers and artists will need to understand the basics of business – the combination of specialist qualifications and business knowledge will become vital to success. Whatever you decide to do and whatever career you decide to go into, there is a chance that it will involve some 'business.'
Students will study 5 units over a 2 year period. 2 units are externally assessed at the end of year 12 with 3 internally assessed units completed in year 13. The Cambridge Technical in Business has been developed to meet the changing needs of the sector, and prepare you for the challenges in Higher Education or employment. The Cambridge Technical in Business focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demand. You will practically apply these skills and knowledge in preparation for further study or the workplace. You will learn how a business might evolve. From a small start-up business to a large multinational organization, you will consider a range of different business types and gain an understanding of how the choice of business type might affect the objectives that are set. You will also look at the internal workings of businesses, including the internal structure and how different functional areas work together. You will also look at the external constraints under which a business must operate and gain an understanding of the legal, financial and ethical factors that have an impact. You will also explore ways in which businesses respond to changes in their economic, social and technological environment; and gain an appreciation of the influence different stakeholders can have upon a business.
