Course summary
Understanding the links between the past and present helps us to become better citizens. History is therefore a subject that is valued by universities and employers alike due to its broad and academic nature. We are currently living in a politically, socially, and economically turbulent time; studying the past helps us make sense of what is happening with the hope that we can then share this understanding with others. History develops your ability to analyze evidence and think critically in order to formulate arguments. These are high order skills that are transferrable across many subjects and careers. Finally, History forces us to ask questions and challenge the status quo; this is essential for our development as individuals in a progressive society.
