
A level Biology provides a solid grounding in analytical thinking, writing reports and clear communication – all of which are useful life skills. Theoretical knowledge and the focus on current practical techniques will support your development as a future scientist. You will learn about the core concepts of biology and about the impact of biological research and how it links to everyday life. You will learn to apply your knowledge, investigate and solve problems in a range of contexts.
This will be a linear course, with Papers 1 and 2 being assessed by a 1 hour 45 minute exam consisting of 90 marks each, and Unit 3 being assessed by a 2 hour 30 minute exam consisting of 120 marks. In addition, students will also be required to carry out a minimum of 12 assessed practicals which on completion will appear on all students’ certificates as a separately reported result.
