
Is this course for me? Throughout this course you will study the science of the mind and how it functions. It provides a fascinating insight into how the mind works, through rigorous and scientific investigation of human behaviour. Psychology can be combined with any other subject but it goes particularly well with Biology, P.E., Sociology and Chemistry. What will I learn? You will learn how to construct logical discussions and how to employ scientific evidence to reinforce your opinions and interpretations. The aim of the course is to give you knowledge and understanding of the different perspectives in psychology as well as some practical applications. You will study in detail many examples of psychological research and you should be able to evaluate these critically. The following are the topics that you will cover over the two years: Social Influence Memory Attachment Research Methods Psychopathology Schizophrenia Approaches in Psychology Issues and Debates Relationships Biopsychology Aggression What could this course lead to? It is excellent preparation for a degree course in Psychology and for a wide range of careers related to Psychology, including Educational, Clinical, Occupational and Forensics. It is also an excellent subject to study if you want to pursue a career in the caring professions such as Medicine and Nursing or people professions such as the Police, Management and Personnel. Psychologists also work in a variety of careers such as Advertising and the Media.
