Most ICT users experience the outward facing side of computer programming and software. Studying ICT provides you with the opportunity to develop an understanding of how software is created and a chance to design systems of your own. The course will be assessed with two exams in each year, and two course work units. Unit 01: Information Technology Systems (M) [120GLH] {Year 2} Learners study the role of computer systems and the implications of their use in personal and professional situations. Unit 02: Creating Systems to Manage Information (M) [90GLH] {Year 1} Learners study the design, creation, testing and evaluation of a relational database system to manage information. Unit 03: Using Social Media in Business (M) [90GLH] {Year 1} Learners explore how businesses use social media to promote their products and services. Learners also implement social media activities in a business to meet requirements. Unit 06: Website Development (O) [60GLH] {Year 2} Learners investigate website development principles. They will design and develop a website using scripting languages. The lessons involve both theory and practical work and you will use different study skills including making notes in groups and individually, preparing information for presentations.
