Course summary

Digital and Media skills are among the most desirable qualities you can have in the modern world. In almost any career one is likely to benefit from being able to decode and produce multimedia content (images, video and audio) in order to be effective. Media at Dunraven teaches those skills. Students will become fluent media writers and will use a vast range of subject specific language in order to become critical thinkers in relation to media texts. Students will also learn and apply a wide range of technical skills including pre-production, production and post-production across a wide range of media forms. The Media studies department at Dunraven has close working relationships with the BFI, the BBC, PictureHouse cinemas and a wide range of local media production companies. It is these relationships that have allowed students to enjoy highly competitive and sought-after work experience placements, visits and workshops.

Entry requirements

Grade 6 in GCSE English Media Studies A level will suit any student who is passionate about analysing the impact media products have on society. They should also be passionate about creating media products. Critical thinking, Technical competency and Creativity are also skills that will allow them to do very well on this course.
