
AS Level Music (2 Year Course) allows students to continue their musical development post GCSE on a reduced workload. Students will study Performance, Composition and Analysis. Students will continue building on their instrumental practice and performance, showcasing an understanding of musical elements, style, interpretation and expression. The course aims to develop compositional skills, demonstrating the manipulation of musical ideas and enhancing student’s creativity. Students will engage with and analyse a diverse heritage of music in order to promote personal, social, intellectual and cultural development. Completion of the qualification is optional, making this an excellent opportunity to further develop musicality without additional examination pressure.
High Grade 5 in GCSE Music, ABRSM (or similar). Grade 5 practical on an instrument or voice. An audition would be required for external applicants and/or students who do not meet this criterion.
